Dogbone shackles are manufactured using high-strength alloy steel. The manufacturing steps are as follows:
1. Material Cutting – Cutting high-strength alloy steel bars to specified lengths.
2. Heat Forming – Heating the steel to approximately 1050°C – 1150°C and forming it into a dogbone shape.
3. Heat Treatment (Quenching and Tempering) – Achieving required mechanical properties (yield strength, tensile strength, elongation).
4. Shot Blasting – Cleaning the surface for inspection and coating.
5. Surface Protection – Hot-dip galvanizing or other anti-corrosion coating.
6. Proof Load Testing – Each shackle is tested at 2.0 or 2.5 times the working load limit (WLL).
