1. What is the Difference Between Stud Link and Studless Anchor Chain?
Stud link chain has a crossbar inside each link that prevents twisting and deformation under load. It is stronger and more stable – ideal for permanent fish farm mooring exposed to waves and currents. Studless chain is lighter and cheaper, but less stable over time.
2. What Grade Chain do I Need for Fish Farming?
U2 (AM2) and U3 (AM3) are the most common grades. U3 offers higher breaking load for deep-sea conditions. Choose U2 for standard farms, U3 for rough sea conditions.
3. What Diameters are Commonly Used?
From 12.5mm to 50mm. Most fish farms use 16mm to 36mm. Large salmon farms typically go with 32mm, 34mm, or 36mm.
4. What do Norwegian and Chilean Farms Typically Choose?
Based on our supply experience: Norwegian farms prefer stud link chain. Chilean farms mostly use studless chain. Surface treatment: hot-dip galvanized or black paint. Black paint is more budget-friendly.
