The Permanent Chain Chaser is a pear-shaped, cast steel tool designed for the recovery of embedded anchors deployed by the buoy and pennant method. When the pennant breaks and the buoy drifts away, the chaser is deployed along the anchor chain to locate and recover the anchor. It is widely used on semi-submersible drilling rigs and is suitable for most industry-standard anchor types, including AC-14, LWT, Stevin, Danforth, and Moorfast.
The chaser features a shackle eye at the top for connection to the work wire, and a roller at the bottom that significantly reduces friction, allowing the chaser to slide smoothly along the chain during recovery operations. The pear-shaped body with a narrow shank cross-section cuts through most soils efficiently during chasing.
Key Features
Pear-shaped with Shackle Eye – Optimized for sliding efficiency and penetration capability
Roller at Bottom – Reduces friction and improves sliding performance along the chain
Cast Steel Construction – Durable and repairable
Material Softer Than Chain – The chaser wears before the chain or wire does, preventing damage to mooring components
Suitable for Most Anchor Types – Works with AC-14, LWT, Stevin, Danforth, Moorfast, and more
Operating Depth – Suitable for water depths in excess of 200 meters
Customizable – Can be produced according to customer requirements
